AR Classes

Getting to know your AR 15

December 31 • 9:00 – 12:00 pm

Price: $50

Length of Course - Three-hour course

Prerequisite Course(s): None.

Overview:

What does AR stand for?  This three-hour class is designed to teach the fundamental operation of the AR type weapon system.  We will cover the nomenclature, functions, operation, and field stripping and cleaning your AR. We will explore many aspects of your AR sporting rifle from its history through its modern day use as a sporting rifle.  We will discuss the AR in its relationship to our current society as well as the misrepresentation that AR stands for AMERICAN RIFLE. We will briefly cover the accessories available and the application as a home defense firearm.  This class will be like our basic pistol class.  Our level 2 AR class will be like our TAC 1 Defensive Pistol Class and is forthcoming.  Instructors will work with you to take down your firearm and walk you through the process of cleaning and proper maintenance and re-assembly with function check.  New and experienced shooters are welcome.  The purpose of this course is to help students understand and learn how to clean and maintain and operate their AR(s) in a safe manner.

NOTE:  You are encouraged to wear old clothing (or an apron) since the cleaning process and the solvents used may ruin some materials.

Required Materials:

 Firearm(s), Magazine(s), Owner’s Manual, Cleaning kit/supplies, (your own)

Notepad, Pen/Pencil

AR TACTICAL

AR Tactical – The next step

Length of Course - Four-hour course

Prerequisite Course(s): None.

Prerequisite Course(s): This course is the prerequisite for Tactical AR 2.

Minimum: 2, Maximum 6

Overview:

This 4-Hour Tactical AR 1 course is comparable to our TAC 1 Defensive Pistol course and is physically and mentally challenging.  This class is designed for an experience shooter with some to moderate amount of shooting tactical style weapons.  Tactical AR 1 teaches individuals how to safely operate the weapon, the use of a tactical sling, how to deal reloads and clearing malfunctions.  Students will learn how to run the gun and keep the gun in the fight.  We will discuss the use of the AR style rifle in home defense as well.

Required Materials: 

AR Style gun with a single or two-point sling, 3 Magazines with a magazine pouch, inner and outer ear protection, eye protection, long pants, proper footwear, 250 rounds (minimum), long sleeved shirt is recommended

Optional Materials:

Notepad. Pen/Pencil, Knee pads

GLOCK WORKSHOP

GLOCK Workshop

Who Should Attend?  Current Glock owners and those considering the purchase of Glock pistol.

Overview:

This two-hour course will cover the operation, maintenance, and cleaning of the Glock pistol. Participants will learn how and what makes the Glock pistol unique among current production pistols. The seminar will cover the Glock’s Safe Action System in detail, the firearm operating cycle and unique features of the Glock platform.  Current Glock owners are encouraged to bring their unloaded and cleared Glock pistol to the seminar. (No ammunition – This is a non-shooting course.)

During the seminar participants will inspect, field strip, clean, properly lubricate, reassemble and function check their pistol and magazines.  We will also discuss the history of Glock, Glock Safe Action System, pistol frame sizes and differences, field stripping, cleaning and lubrication, reassembly, magazine maintenance, Gen 4 features, the new Gen 5 and back strap change, loaded chamber indicator and trigger reset while shooting as well as dry fire drills to assist the shooter.  We will discuss the modifications common to the Glock system.

Custom Classes

Looking for something that you don't see? Customized classes are all available upon request.  Our team will design classes both as a group or individual, based upon the needs of the participant(s).

We also offer hosting opportunities.  If you have a group of 8 or more participants, TAC will host a private class for you.  With 8 paying participants, the host attends free!  Your group can take a pre-scheduled class or we can customize it to meet your needs.  Classes can be held at the Take Aim Carolina classroom or Mobile TAC can come to you!


Private or Small Group Lessons

Are you a new or returning shooter?  Looking to advance your techniques or familiarize yourself with your new firearm?  Private or small group lessons are available.  Individual instruction will be given based on your needs.

Mobile TAC

Have a group?  A class you’d like to take? A conference room, fellowship hall or other space to learn?  Mobile TAC will bring our classes to you.  Prices vary among class size, type, and location. Minimum group of 8.


Couples Only

Several of our classes can be designated for couples only.  This is a great way for couples who are exploring firearm ownership, home defense, or CCH permits to become more familiar with techniques, safety, and laws together.


First Aid/CPR/AED

This class covers First Aid, CPR and use of AED certified by the American Red Cross.

North Carolina Hunter Safety Course

This course provides the necessary requirements to obtain your NC hunters license certification.  All new hunters are required to take this course.
