NRA Instructors Courses

Prerequisite - NRA Basic Pistol with instructor qualification

This is an 8 hour NRA course.                                                                  

Class Description: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.

This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet; take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. (See Gun and Ammo rentals under Class Descriptions for more details)

Eye and Ear protection required for all shooting classes.  If you don’t have eye and ear protection, limited equipment is available.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Instructor Course

This is a two-day NRA course.

Class Description:  Prepares the student to teach NRA basic pistol course.

The first day is NRA Basic Instructor Training; day two is the Pistol Instructor class.  This course is conducted over two days. The pre-course qualification will be held at the beginning of day one or you can schedule to pre-qualify by contacting us.  The instructor candidate must complete Phase 1 of the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course which is conducted in an eLearning environment (online) by going to https://www.nraonlinetraining.org and selecting this class. The student may also take the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course as an instructor led course.  Phase 1 must be completed with a passing score of 90% before you can attend the Pistol Instructor Class. Only those instructor candidates who achieve satisfactory scores in the pre-course qualification, and who meet other specified requirements for NRA instructors, are eligible for certification.
